Adult League Rules!

News Image

Minimum number of players on the court.

A team must have 2 females on the court and 4 players to start. (or its a default)

Playoff eligibiltiy

A person on a team must have 3 nights out for the team in the regular season to be eligible for playoffs. What should you do if you suspect someone is using a illegal player? Ask the official to see if anyone has seen them. The official could then ask if the person has played 3x?

By asking official "before" the game takes place you can eliminate a potential issue. Lets say the team did not know and says ok Joe or Jill cannot play. If the game does go ahead an illegal player was used a default will take place.

A team must have 3 eligible females for playoffs. So please do not play with 2 females all season and then ask officials if you can use a new one. (you should have had the 3rd one ready to play playoffs)

Default Times

1st set lost at official start time and all 5 sets are defaulted after 15 minutes

Official net height is 2.335m (for all Divisions)(exactly the middle of Men's and Women's height)

Net Setup

At Cowan the city sets the nets up at CASS and ESND the official is paid to do it but could use the help in taking down the net in order to get out of the facility quicker.

Ringer Rule

A team may only have 2 males and 4 total players who are registered on higher level teams. That means if you had 2 over division males on your team and one said I can not come tonight you can NOT use another in the season. EVER.

There is no committe on what level a player is. If a player was an Olympic athlete but does not play in a higher level in our league they are only rated by what they play in Woodstock. If you have a player who plays on a C2 team (for example) and you are a D1 team that is a ringer. You can not say he/she is not really that strong and really is only a D1 level. If someone plays at a level they are considered the higher level. It is the teams responsibilty to ensure that they do not have more ringers than is allowed.

Their is no restriction on say an A player playing D3. They are of course counted as a ringer to the D3 team but it is allowed. Now that being said an A player should act accordigly of playing far below their level. The rule is to allow maybe a couple to play once a week at the sposes level and once at their level. Plus there is many people who play twice a week as maybe a weaker player on say a B team and one of the strongest on a say D1. So the rule is designed to alllow people to play more than once a week should they want to without a B team (for example) play C1 for practice.

You might think there could be problems allowing an A player to play D3 but in reality it almost never happens. Our most common player that plays two or more teams is usually one or two divisions down.

If someone on your team gets 3 games on a higher level team (becomes official on the higher team) and you are at the limit of 2 male and 4 total (male/female) ringers you must cut a ringer off your team right. There is no committe on what level a player is. If you have a player who plays C2 (for example) and you are a D1 team that is a ringer. You can not say he/she is not really that strong and really is only a D1 level. If someone plays at a level they are considered the higher level.
